The Black Hills area of South Dakota offers visitors the opportunity to slow down and enjoy a simpler life amid natural wonders and picturesque forest landscapes. The Black Hills National Forest covers over 1 million acres of South Dakota and Wyoming, and offers a wealth of outdoor activities, such as hiking, bird watching and mountain biking. There are numerous hotels, motels and lodges throughout the Black Hills region.

Super 8 Hill City

The Super 8 Hill city is about seven miles from Mount Rushmore National Memorial and about 15 miles from Rapid City. Piccadilly's Pizza and subs is on site, and there are eight additional restaurants within two blocks of the hotel. The fitness center, indoor pool and hot tub are open throughout the year. Pets are permitted at the Super 8 Hill City, although this hotel imposes an additional nightly fee.

Celebrity Hotel

The Celebrity Hotel is in Deadwood on the north side of the Black Hills National Forest and 20 minutes from Sturgis, the home of the annual Sturgis motorcycle rally. This hotel features a casino where guests can try their luck at one of the slot machines or other games. The Guitar Bar features guitars autographed by Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger and other music legends. The Celebrity Hotel houses over 75 props from movies, such as "Saving Private Ryan," "Jurassic Park" and "Terminator 2."

Travelodge Mount Rushmore

This Travelodge property is at the base of Mount Rushmore. It is also within walking distance of the Keystone boardwalk and the Borglum Historical Center, where visitors can learn about the sculpting of the presidents. Guests can enjoy views of Mount Rushmore from their room balcony or the outdoor pool. There is also an outdoor whirlpool where guests can relax after a day of sightseeing.
