ATV Riding Near Tulsa, Oklahoma

Throughout the state of Oklahoma there are several outdoor parks and state parks that offer ATV trails for people looking to ride and enjoy the outdoors. However, these places may require quite a bit of a commute, but with so many quality areas around for riding, the travel time will be well worth it.

Big Red Off-Road Park

The Big Red Off-Road Park is about a two-hour drive from Tulsa. It is by far the closest of all of the parks available for ATV riding in the state. Big Red offers 160 acres of marked trails catering to a variety of different skill levels, and are all marked accordingly. Big Red also sells pizza, ice cream, snacks, sodas, water and Gatorade. They also sell goggles and tire repair plugs just in case. A convenience store is just a mile down the road and sells gasoline if you need to fuel up before or during your day of riding. Park admission is $10 a day per person. Children under 4 are admitted for free. The park is open from 8 a.m. until dusk.

Sundog Trails

Sundog Trails is a little over three hours' drive from Tulsa. The park, which features several trails both of sand and of packed dirt, is open to ATVs, dirt bikes, full-size trucks and jeeps. There are also hiking and horseback riding paths, and for those who want to extend their experience, camping is also available. Riding is open from 9 a.m. to dusk Monday through Friday and 8 a.m. to dusk on the weekends. Depending on what type of vehicle your driving, your rate will vary. However, everyday there is a Twilight Special from 5 p.m. to dusk. All trails and all vehicles can ride for only $5. Annual passes are also available.

Lake Murray State Park

Located about 3 hours from Tulsa by car, Lake Murray State Park features over 1,000 acres of area to explore. The ATV trails offer hills, sand, wooded areas and fields. The fee for entrance to the riding area is $7 per day per person. Each rider is given an armband, which is required for all who wish to ride in the park. There are several camping areas available for anyone looking to stay the night and ride more than one day or experience the rest of what Lake Murray State Park has to offer. 29 full-service sites are offered for RVs, which feature electrical, water and sewer hook-ups. These sites cost $19 per night. There are also standard tent sites that cost $8 per night.
