Public Use Cabins at Lake Louise, Alaska

Accessible by air strip, float plane and a road running north from mile 160 of the Glenn Highway, 26-square-mile Lake Louise, Alaska, is a crowd-free place for boating, photography, birding, wildlife viewing, and ice and open-water fishing. With over 16 inches of rain a year, 50 inches of annual snowfall, and cool temperatures of between -9 and 60 degrees Fahrenheit, Lake Louise Recreational Area, which spans 48 square miles, offers several practical cabin options.

Lake Louise Lodge

This year-round, smoke-free lodge offers rustic cabins with private baths and decks. Its full-service restaurant features Alaskan seafood & steaks. Boat and motor rentals, fuel, satellite TV, and complimentary breakfast are available. A canoe is included with cabin rental.

The Point Lodge

The Point offers five smoke-free, 10- by 14-foot cabins, with electricity but no running water. Shower, bathroom facilities, fireplace, TV/media room, lounge, bar and three family-style meals a day are available at the lodge. Smoking permitted on the dining area decks overlooking the lake and mountains. The lodge offers year-round adventure, romance, photography, nature viewing and a peaceful atmosphere.

Evergreen Lodge

These 8- by 10-foot cabins have electricity but no running water. The main lodge's small, well-lit rooms are smoke-free. Continental breakfast, biking and walking trails, fishing, wildlife and aurora borealis viewing are included. Closes for the winter.

Slide Mountain Cabins

Located conveniently on the Glenn Highway within an hour of Lake Louise, these smoke-free one-room cabins are open year-round. Options include handicap access, satellite TV with VCR & movie selection, microwave, table & chairs, and bunk, twin and queen-sized beds. Cabins include access to clean, modern showers and restrooms.

Wolverine Lodge

This lakeshore lodge, open year-round, offers showers, a full-service restaurant and bar with darts tournaments, big screen and satellite TV and radio. A liquor store, grassy courtyard for outdoor parties and barbecues, fuel, snow machine rentals, maintenance shop, docks and boat launch and storage are also available. Smoking is permitted.
