Eugene, Oregon is a beloved counter culture capital and sports town boasting easy access to spectacular mountains and a sublime coastal region. Eugene is well known for the literary and cultural legacy of writer Ken Kesey on the one hand, and as Track Town USA on the other hand with a sparkling history of champion runners such as Steve Prefontaine and Alberto Salazar. A variety of cozy, down home restaurants serve outstanding breakfasts and strong, fresh coffee in Eugene.

Brail's Restaurant

Since Brail's Restaurant was bought by Joy Knudtson in 2001, she has been dedicated to knowing her customers by name and serving the best breakfast in town. The Eugene Weekly newspaper has recognized Brail's for Eugene's Best Hangover Breakfast three years running. A dazzling array of omelettes are served with home fried or hash brown potatoes, and diners can choose from a muffin, biscuit or toast. Waffles and pancakes are also available. Hot or cold cereal and single item side orders such as one egg or a cinnamon roll round out the menu.

The Glenwood Restaurant

One of the best things about the locally-owned Glenwood Restaurant is that there are two locations to choose from, one near the University of Oregon campus and one in South Eugene. The breakfast menu features an eclectic range of items from Eggs Benedict to fresh muffins, with tempeh available as a meat substitute. Juice, coffee and espresso drinks are available. The Eugene Weekly newspaper cites the Glenwood Restaurants for huge portions at good prices, while the Oregon Daily Emerald reports that the Glenwood serves everyday food done right.
