Ireland's iconic capital city is the country's main center for education, government, art and culture. Though the city may be better known for its traditional Irish pubs serving fish and chips by the boatload, the diverse city of Dublin is also home to countless ethnic restaurants offering everything from Arabic and Eastern European to Thai and Chinese cuisine. Indian restaurants are quite popular in Dublin and they are scattered all around the city, though the most popular ones are downtown. After a long day of bike riding around the city or hiking in nearby Glenadalough Valley, those who have an appetite can enjoy a delicious, flavorful meal at any of these Dublin Indian restaurants.

Saagar

Founded in 1992 in the small Irish city of Mullingar, Saagar has more recently opened branches in Athlone and Dublin. Since its opening, Saagar has received lots of recognition from local food guides and has been listed in Bridgestone's 100 Best Restaurants of Ireland since 1996. Saagar serves up a wide range of traditional Northern Indian cuisine, which includes minced lamb tandoori seekh kebabs, chicken jaipuri with mushrooms, green peppers and onions and spicy king prawn kolapuri. Saagar also offers a number of vegetarian dishes, such as sag paneer Indian cottage cheese, tarka dal lentils, aloo ghobi, a dry dish prepared with cauliflower, potatoes and tomatoes. Guests often accompany their meal with naan, a typical Indian flat bread perfect for dipping into sauces.

Jaipur

Chosen by Dublin food critic Lucinda O'Sullivan as one of 2010's great places to eat, Jaipur has received numerous accolades from local publications and food guides for its authentic and innovative Indian cuisine. Jaipur's menu is slightly small and more refined than the average Indian restaurant's, favoring quality and subtlety over quantity. Appetizers include sambusek (crispy feat cheese-filled pastries served with yogurt and tamarind chutney), paneer aur subz ki seekh (fresh Indian cottage cheese with bell peppers, onion and mint chutney), and bhuney aloo aur mutter ki tikki (pan fried green pea, potato and cumin cakes). Main courses are simple sounding but rich in flavor. It is recommended to try the murg chettinad (free range chicken filet with curry leaves and coconut) or chaa gosht (wicklow lamb cooked in spices and yogurt).
