The town of Timonium, Maryland, located in Baltimore County, offers hikers access to a variety of in-town and nearby outdoor activities. Visitors can check out Orchard Hills Park, with a playground, ballfields and picnic area, or play tennis and hike at Seminary Park and two parks in Valley Fields Park (North and South). After a day on the trails, recharge and refresh with a meal at one of Timonium's restaurants. Ranging from casual tavern-style food to cultural specialties, Timonium offers something to suit just about every hiker's cravings.

Bluestone Restaurant

After a long day on the trails, refuel and recharge at Bluestone Restaurant, open every day for lunch, dinner and evening entertainment. Start with an appetizer such as fried green tomatoes, crispy crab balls or caprese flatbread. Entrees include Chilean sea bass, ahi tuna, New York strip steak and chicken with gnocchi. The lunch menu also includes salads, sandwiches and wraps such as curried chicken salad, seafood club and a grilled salmon powerhouse. Weekly specials include half-priced bottled wine on Tuesdays and a fixed-price special on Sundays. On Mondays, local radio personnel broadcast from the Bluestone. Wines are available to accompany the meals. Attire is casual.

An Poitin Stil

Unwind from the day's hike with an Irish beer or specialty cuisine at An Poitin Stil, open daily from lunch through late night. It also serves Sunday brunch. Fans of Irish food may choose from corned beef and cabbage, Gaelic steak, shepherd's pie, fish and chips, Irish stew and bangers and mash. The menu also includes entrees such as manga salsa tilapia, homemade meatloaf and a grilled chicken breast. Vegetarians may opt for the grilled portobello burger or veggie burger. Lighter fare includes salads, sandwiches (hot roast beef, crab cake, tuna salad) and appetizers (onion rings, chicken tenders, Irish nachos). Wines are available by the bottle and glass, plus beers, and liquor (including Irish imports such as Oban, Talisker and Dalwhinnie) and cocktails. Catch free live music nearly every day, including local bands, Irish fiddlers and other area musicians. Attire is casual.

To refuel after a long hike, try steaks (tenderloin, rib eye, New York strip), salmon, braised short ribs, pork chop or fried lobster tail. Vegetarians may opt for the bento box or something from the salad selection. Christopher Daniel also offers a raw bar, appetizers (tuna martini, flash fried calamari, southern-style oysters) and sandwiches at lunch, including a prime rib French dip, turkey pesto panini and grilled salmon BLT.
