Michigan has much to offer in the way of outdoor sports and pursuits. The Great Lakes have sea-kayaking, canoeing, fishing and sailing opportunities. Hiking and wildlife observation are possible at Isle Royale National Park. Winter in northern Michigan, the land of Longfellow's Hiawatha, is a good time for cross-country skiing and snowshoeing. For many, camping means roughing it under the stars and going without even rudimentary comforts. For others, it means gassing up the RV and driving to campgrounds full of amenities. Campgrounds with showers and bathrooms, at the very least, are available in America's "mitten."
