Motorcycle riders seeking a camping tent must take several variables into consideration. Size will always be a concern as most bikes don't offer much excess space for baggage. Also, consider tent weight, season in which you will be traveling, whether or not the rider demands shelter for the vehicle and enough head room to maneuver after the tent is loaded with gear.

Bikertent

Riders can protect their motorcycle from the elements and sleep in the Bikertent. This three-season tent is separated into two compartments with an access door in between. One section of the tent is designed for sleeping and the other is a drive-through motorcycle storage area. Sleeping space dimensions are 4-by-6-by-10 feet and bike space is 6-by-6-by-10 feet. Overall weight is 26.5 pounds. Other features include two mesh windows, reflective chords, taped seams, reinforced corners and fiberglass tent poles surrounding bungee cords. This tent is an option for those who wish to park their bike more securely. If confident about leaving the bike outside, the bike space can be used for additional campers.

Mountain Meteor 3

Sierra Design's Mountain Meteor 3, designed for mountaineering, is a sound choice for long-distance trips where space and a sturdy design are required for inclement weather. Though manufactured with three campers in mind, the smart cyclist will use this tent for no more than two persons, ensuring ample room for baggage. Features include a vestibule area of 16-plus-7.5 feet squared, peak height of 47 inches, total weight of 11.10 pounds, DAC Featherlite NSL poles, reflective guy outs and door trim, an air-lift vent, sew-free window, sealed floor and two stash doors.

Eureka Backcountry 1 Solo

Riders can choose a one-person tent for short solo trips where a minimum of gear is needed. Eureka's Backcountry 1 Solo tent is a three-season, rectangular dome with dimensions of 3-by-3.2-by-8 feet---long enough for tall individuals plus a little stowage. Other features include an attractive weight of just 3.14 pounds, a single mesh window, two-pole aluminum frame, large for easy access, post and grommet corners, two pockets for storage, one flashlight loop and four gear loft loops. Though floor space may seem adequate, riders planning to carry a lot of gear probably should look for a larger option.
