Fairbanks, Alaska, is in the east-central part of the state, a short distance from Eielson Air Force Base. There are fishing locations in the area as well as guide services to help visitors. Tanana Valley State Forest and Chena River State Recreation Area, both near town, offer other outdoor recreation opportunities such as hiking and camping.

Arctic Grayling Guide Service offers fishing trips to a wilderness location south of town. A variety of salmon and arctic grayling are the main fish in the area. One-day and multiple-day trips are offered. Cabins are located at the destination with basic needs such as sleeping bags and a cook stove.
