Georgia State Parks With RV Camping

The Georgia State Park system was founded in 1931. All 63 parks managed by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources offer visitors an array of activities including hiking, biking, boating, fishing, bird-watching and wildlife viewing. Offering 41 state parks with more than 2,700 campsites, Georgia State Parks have tent-only areas, RV pull throughs sites, primitive camping and group camping areas.

Black Rock Mountain State Park

Black Rock Mountain State Park is located north of Clayton near the North Carolina border. Comprised of 1,743 acres, Black Rock Mountain encompasses parts of the Blue Ridge Mountains and the Eastern Continental Divide. Black Rock Mountain is Georgia's highest state park and boasts scenic overlooks with 80-mile vistas. There are 11 miles of hiking trails and fishing in the 17-acre lake. The campground has 44 tent, trailer and RV sites with water and 30-amp electrical service, a picnic table, grill, fire ring and a comfort station with hot showers, flush toilets and laundry facilities. Most RVs exceeding 25 feet are not recommended due to the high incline and limited mobility.

Crooked River State Park

Crooked River State Park is located on Georgia's Colonial Coast. The park features nature trails that wind through a maritime forest and salt marsh for hiking, a boat ramp for boating and fishing and an abundance of opportunities for bird-watching and wildlife viewing. Visitors can also take the ferry to Cumberland Island National Seashore known for its wild horses, mansion ruins and wildlife. The on-site campground has 62 tent and RV campsites capable of accommodating RVs up to 50 feet. Sites feature water, 30- or 50-amp electric service, a picnic table, grill, fire ring and a comfort station with hot showers, flush toilets and laundry facilities. All sites are on a first come, first serve basis, and cottage rentals are also available.

Magnolia Springs State Park

Magnolia Springs State Park is located five miles north of Millen and has over 1,070 acres. It is known for crystal-clear springs flowing 7 to 9 million gallons of water per day. The 28-acre lake has a dock for fishing and boating. Bikers can enjoy the 3-mile loop trail and take a walk along the boardwalk for wildlife viewing. The campground features 26 tent, trailer and RV campsites with 30- or 50-amp electrical service and water. Campsites include picnic tables, grills and fire rings, and the campground has a comfort station with hot showers, flush toilets and laundry facilities. The park also boasts two pioneer campgrounds, three playgrounds, a seasonal swimming pool and a freshwater aquarium. Cottage rentals are also available.
