Vermont is known for its picturesque mountains and rolling hills. Much of it is rural, with small towns scattered throughout the state. Visitors can enjoy skiing, hiking, fishing and boating at parks like the White Mountain National Forest, Green Mountain National Forest and Calvin Coolidge State Park. Staying at a resort can turn even a short vacation into a memorable getaway.

Smugglers' Notch

Smugglers' Notch is a family-oriented winter resort in northern Vermont, about 20 miles east of Burlington. The resort is set up to resemble a quaint village surrounded by mountainous ski slopes. Each neighborhood in the village has its own type of accommodations, ranging from luxury suites to family cabins. Besides skiing, Smuggler's North offers restaurants and lounges, an indoor swimming pool complex, an outdoor skating rink and a family fun center with miniature golf and table tennis. There are also specialized activities for teens and kids, and a baby-sitting service for when parents take to the slopes.
