York, England is one of the most popular tourist destinations for visitors to the UK, and even for the British themselves. This uniquely preserved medieval city also has outstanding natural attractions such as through the at only a short distance from the city.

The walls that surround York are some of the finest and most complete city walls in England. They extend for three miles, and enclose an area of 263 acres. The walls still have all four of their original gates, or bars, and also 34 of the original 39 towers situated around the walls to protect the city.

The Ace Hotel, York

The newly refurbished Ace Hotel in the center of York is walking distance from all of the major attractions, including the City Walls and York Minster Cathedral. It also is close to the Jorvik Viking Center.

The Ace Hotel is a budget hostel with great views and excellent amenities, including Internet access, web access in the lobby with Wi-Fi, cable TV, a common room, and games room with pool table, plus a sauna in the basement, and an outside seating area to make the most of the moderate climate throughout the year.

There is a washing machine/dryer, 24-hour security, towel hire, a bar, café, air conditioning, an iron and ironing board, luggage storage and 24-hour reception.

For each guest, linen is included, plus a reading light, key card access and continental breakfast. Most of the rooms have a safe, TV and tea and coffee facilities.

You can choose from 10 different rooms in the following configurations: Double rooms, Twin Bunk rooms, family rooms or dormitory accommodation holding four to 14 people. All the bedrooms are en suite.

York International Youth Hostel

About 10 minutes from the City Center on foot is the spacious York International Youth Hostel. You can walk into the city center along the River Ouse tow path to get to all the main attractions quickly and easily.

You can get a York Pass at the hostel reception area which will offer discounts on many of the attractions in the city. It comes with a guide book and can be purchased for one, two or three days in duration. Also ask about the free guided walks provided by the city.

The hostel has a variety of rooms from singles to dormitories. the hostel has a common room, games room, lounge, TV lounge, garden and cycle store. There is also a dining room restaurant, a self-catering kitchen, a laundry room and drying room, plus a luggage store.

Each room provides linen for the guests; some of the rooms are en suite.

Blossoms Guest House, York

Blossoms Guest House is located in a Georgian town house dating from 1837. Formerly a private residence, all the rooms have been modernized with en suite shower and w/c (no bath.) It is also along the River Ouse tow path from the city center.

At the Blossoms Guest House the facilities include tea- and coffee-making facilities, direct-dial telephone,, free Wi-Fi, meals on request, kitchen facilities, car parking, secure parking, laundry facilities, a TV and DVD player in all rooms, fax/photocopying service, a TV lounge, board games, Nintendo Wii in the lounge, hair dryers and an iron and ironing board. It can accommodate up to 45 guests.

Located a short walk from the historic bar walls and York Minster, restaurants, bars and shopping, the Blossom Guest House is an excellent location for exploring York and the surrounding countryside. Friendly staff are eager to help you make the most of your time in the city and countryside with information on the many local attractions.
