Bear Creek Lake Park
Bear Creek Lake Park is known for its wildlife, family campgrounds and trails. There are three lakes for fishing, swimming and boating, 15 miles of dirt trails for biking and hiking, and 50 campsites with picnic shelters and some with electricity. Kids can enjoy the guided nature walks, paddleboats and seasonal weekly campfires.

Chatfield State Park
At Chatfield State Park, kids can enjoy fishing, paved runways for model-airplanes in the family campgrounds, boating, swimming, biking and the most popular hot-air balloon launch area. A concession stand called the Candy Man offers sno-cones and other treats.

Hudson Gardens & Events Center
Hudson Gardens & Events Center has 30 acres of gardens that offer ponds, adventure hideaways, sculptures, walking paths and a garden railroad. There are five family self-guided tours to explore the living environment with spy glasses and clue cards. Hudson also has summer concerts and holiday events.

Roxborough State Park
Roxborough is a 3,339 acre park with trails, backcountry camping, biking, rock-climbing, cross country skiing, birding, swimming and sledding. Numerous special events for kids are held at the park, including story time and puppet theaters. The Visitor Center features an interactive geological exhibit that teaches kids about rock formations and the wildlife within the park.
