Aspen Lodges in Colorado

Aspen Lodges in Colorado
Aspen, Colorado, is one of the world's premier ski destinations. Situated in the middle of an alpine valley in Colorado's Rocky Mountains, Aspen features some of the world's finest ski resorts including Aspen Mountain and Snowmass. Even if you visit during the summer, Aspen offers many fun activities that do not require snow such as mountain biking and hiking. For those who are not into playing sports, Aspen also offers a lively music scene. The one catch to all of this is Aspen is one of the most expensive winter resorts in North America. However, if you are looking to vacation on a tight budget, you do not have to stay in a fancy hotel because Aspen offers many affordable lodges.

Aspen Mountain Lodge

Located within walking distance to shopping, dining and the Aspen Mountain Ski Resort, the Aspen Mountain Lodge is located in one of Aspen's most historic neighborhoods.

This wooden lodge has the look and feel of a mountain lodge, which gives it rustic charm. Amenities at the hotel include a four-story atrium with a fireplace and a daily continental breakfast from 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. All rooms are fully furnished with a color TV, a wet bar and a small refrigerator.

Although room rates during the winter reach as high as $400 a night, you can stay during the summer for about $200 per night (March 2010 prices). Less expensive rooms have views of the atrium rather than views of the Aspen landscape.

Named after the famous ski-resort town in Switzerland, the St. Moritz Lodge is a European-style lodge located at the southern end of town.

Amenities at this lodge include a complimentary breakfast, a steam room, barbecue grills and an outdoor heated pool that is open during the summer months. This lodge features both one- and two-bedroom rooms, and some of the one-bedroom rooms have kitchenettes.

If your are looking for a less-expensive option, you can stay in one of the dorm-style rooms, and you will have to share a bathroom with the other rooms. Rates vary anywhere from $100 to $400 per night (March 2010 prices), depending on the type of room as well as the season.
