The North Shore of Massachusetts, stretching north from Boston up the coast to New Hampshire, is a popular destination for family vacations. Besides the allure of the Atlantic, there are many historical sites and towns that dot the area, and many parks throughout the towns of the North Shore offer great hiking, jogging and biking paths. If you're coming for a visit and want to stay in a campground or cabin, there are several options from which you can choose.

Cape Ann Camp Site

Located about 30 miles northeast of Boston on the North Shore of Massachusetts, Cape Ann Camp Site has been in operation since 1949. The campground offers 200 sites for tents and RVs, and the full hookup sites include water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric service.

Many of the sites offer water views, and all of them come with picnic tables and fire pits. The beach is less than a mile from the campground, but if you want to drive there, the campground offers discounted parking passes. Cape Ann Camp Site is open mid-May through mid-October.

There are several restaurants within walking distance of the Beach Road Grove Cabins where you can eat in or take the food back to your cabin, and there's even a gourmet food store just up the street if you'd rather cook your own meals. Rates vary by season, and credit cards are accepted.

The campground has 58 sites, 19 of which are for tents or groups of tents, with the other 39 offering full hookups for RVs that include water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric service.
