Fishing Trips in North Shore, Minnesota

Fishing Trips in North Shore, Minnesota
The scenic North Shore of Minnesota runs from Duluth to Thunder Bay, Ontario, along the Lake Superior coastline. The area is dotted with picturesque waterfront towns and leafy parks. Stop in Two Harbors to browse lakeside cafes, and visit smoked fish houses and arts and crafts shops. Hike the trails at Wolf Ridge and Gooseberry Falls State Park. Kayaking and fishing on Lake Superior are also top pursuits and the nutrient-rich waters of the Great Lake are popular with anglers who go after trophy-size lake trout, walleye and salmon. Visitors will find a variety of outfitters and charter fishing companies along the North Shore.

Tofte Charters

Captains Darren Peck and Kelly Shepard run Lake Superior charter fishing trips aboard their 21-foot Bayliner Trophy boats, beginning in May and running until early October, as of March 2010. The company offers half-day and full-day trips out of Tofte on the North Shore, targeting lake trout, king salmon and steelhead. In late July and early August, fishing trips focus on catching coho salmon that migrate through the Tofte area at the time. The company practices "catch, photograph and release" (CPR) of all large lake trout, but you're welcome to keep the smaller ones. Rods, reels, tackle and bait are provided and they offer free fish cleaning at the end of the trip.
