The Best Monoculars

The Best Monoculars
Monoculars, which look like small spotting scopes, are a popular choice for bird watchers who want to keep things light. They are also used by mountaineers and skiers to scope lines on peaks from a base camp, as the weight and size don't take up much room in a pack. Entry-level monoculars start at around $100, while high end ones can go for $500 or more.

With the included close-up lens attachment, you can change that minimum focus distance to 7.9 inches. The Monovid 8x20 weighs 4 ounces and is 3.9 inches long and 1.4 inches wide.
