Western Montana, the mountainous region of the state, encompasses several mountain ranges, the eastern slopes of the Rockies, the Continental Divide, and national forests and wildlife refuges. Outdoor enthusiasts have many opportunities for hiking, fishing, mountain biking and kayaking. RV campers visiting the area will not have a problem finding a campsite to accommodate their rigs.

Butte KOA

The Butte KOA is in Butte and is open April 15 through October. The park has 111 campsites offering 50-amp service, water and free Wi-Fi. Sites are large and spacious, accommodating RVs up to 80 feet in length. The park has LP gas, a snack bar and a pool that is open June through September. Several streams run though the park, and hikers are approximately 1/2 mile from hiking trails. The Big Hole River is approximately 15 miles from the KOA, offering opportunities for fishing, tubing, canoeing, kayaking and viewing wildlife.

Fairmont RV Park & Campground

The Fairmont RV Park & Campground has 84 full hookup sites with 20-, 30- and 50-amp service, as well as 16 sites with water and electric, and 36 water-only sites. The campground offers restrooms, showers, laundry facility, dump station, gas, public phones, recreation center, picnic area and country store. Anglers are approximately eight miles from the Beaverhead River, which also offers opportunities for tubing and kayaking. The Fairmont Hot Springs Resort is one-quarter mile from the campground, offering an 18-hole golf course.

Jim & Mary's RV Park

Jim & Mary's RV Park is in Missoula, surrounded by mountains. RV campers have a choice in 42 pull-through sites and 26 back-in sites, which are large and shaded. All campsites are full hookups and include cable TV and Wi-Fi. The park has showers, restrooms and a laundry facility. Outdoor enthusiasts are approximately one mile from the Bitterroot River, which has opportunities for fishing, kayaking and viewing wildlife. The Rattlesnake Recreation Area is five miles north, with miles of hiking, mountain biking and cross-country skiing trails, as well as numerous streams throughout the area for fishing.
