Florida Campgrounds on the Ocean

Surrounded by water on three of its four sides, it is no wonder people think of the ocean when visiting Florida, also known as "The Sunshine State." Outdoor enthusiasts will not be at a loss of opportunities to enjoy hiking, swimming, fishing, boating, surfing, as well as many other water sports. However, campgrounds offering direct ocean access may be sparse, but the few that do offer campers the ultimate Florida experience.

Anastasia State Park

Located in Northeast Florida in St. Augustine, Anastasia State Park offers campers access to the Atlantic Ocean. This 16,000-acre park has 139 campsites situated in a maritime hammock, with most sites shady and well-screened. All sites include water, electric, grill, picnic table and fire ring. Maximum length of RVs is 40 feet. The park includes a camping store renting bikes, canoes, sailboards, paddleboats, kayaks and various beach supplies. There are restrooms, showers and a picnic area. Outdoor enthusiasts will appreciate the 4.5 miles of pristine beaches for hiking, sunbathing or shelling. The park also offers opportunities for fishing, surfing and viewing the area's wildlife population.

Jetty Park Campground is located in North-Central Florida and operated by Brevard County. The park, situated along the Atlantic Ocean, is in close proximity to Port Canaveral, offering opportunities for boating and fishing. The wooded campground offers 150 total campsites with 38 non-service sites appropriate for tent campers, with some located close to the water. There are 28 full hook-up sites and 60 sites with water and electric. All campsites include a picnic table and fire ring. The campground has restrooms, showers, dump station, picnic area, snack bar, camp/bait store, with pets accepted. Hikers, sunbathers and swimmers will appreciate the park's 4.5 miles of beachfront, which also offers surfing, canoeing, kayaking and surf fishing. Boaters can launch at Port Canaveral, approximately one-quarter mile from the campground.

Sebastian Inlet State Park

Sebastian Inlet State Park is located in South-Central Florida, in both Brevard and Indian River Counties. The park attracts saltwater anglers from around the world, with both the Indian River and Atlantic Ocean surrounding the area. Campers have 51 campsites located on the water that include water, electric, and a picnic table and fire ring. The park has two museums, restrooms, showers and large picnic area. There is a camp/bait and tackle store where visitors can rent canoes and kayaks. The park has several boat launches for ocean and river fishing, as well as two jetties for anglers desiring to stay land-bound. Hikers will appreciate the 1-mile hiking/biking trail and nature enthusiasts can view wildlife such as shore birds, alligators, bobcats and manatees. The park also offers surfing, snorkeling, diving, and wind surfing and swimming.
