Keystone, South Dakota Restaurants
Located two miles from Mt. Rushmore, Keystone, South Dakota, sees a lot of visitors every year. It was once a gold-mining boom town and was also the home to Carrie Ingalls as an adult. There are many museums in Keystone that will keep you busy on those days when the weather keeps you off of the nearby hiking trails. When you're finished with your adventures, try a meal at one of these area restaurants.

Big Thunder Gold Mine

The Big Thunder Gold Mine is not just a restaurant. As the name suggests, it is a former gold mine, and tours are offered daily in June, July and August. The Eatery portion of the Big Thunder Gold Mine has a variety of foods on the menu at affordable family prices. Among the variety is miner's stew, homemade pizza, old fashioned ice cream, salads and sandwiches. You can even get a box lunch to go for eating on the trail as needed.

Arriba Mexican Grill

The Arriba Mexican Grill is only open during the summer tourist season beginning at the end of April. They have a selection of Mexican food and even a kid's menu for those under the age of 10. Try the signature enchiladas or the macho combo. The oil they use contains no transfats, making this a healthy place to dine. Carry out is available, and they serve alcoholic beverages if you need a cold one after a full day outdoors.

Ruby House

The Historic Ruby House is a museum and a show hall in addition to being a restaurant. May through October, you can take in a Comedy Western Gunfight. The museum contains a large antique firearm collection as well as Native American Indian artifacts and other western antiquities. The menu offers a selection of meat, fish and even buffalo, in addition to salads, pastas, sandwiches and a little bit of Mexican food. This is a great place to visit on a rainy day, or after a long day outdoors exploring the Black Hills.
