Florida's gulf coast offers warm water for swimming, skiing and scuba diving throughout much of the year. The resorts that can be found along the long coastline of Florida are also good places to start long walks down the beach. Just remember to pack your sunscreen and bug repellent along with your bikini and sunglasses, because you will need them to take full advantage of these resorts.

Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa

It takes about two hours in the car to reach Miami or St. Petersburg from Bonita Springs. The Hyatt Regency Coconut Point Resort and Spa is just 15 minutes from the beach, though you may be so satisfied with the 5,000-square-foot Adventure Pool on the property that you never make it to the beach. The centerpiece of fun at this pool is the 140-foot-long corkscrew slide. The Hyatt also provides a lawn pool for adults only. The concierge can set you up with tours that will take you to see dolphins or a weird local atmospheric effect known as the Green Flash, which transforms the sky into an eerie green color. If you decide not to take a cruise, you can try your hand wall climbing, bike trails, ocean kayaking, tennis or bocce ball.
