Purchasing a quality pair of ski gloves (or mittens) is one of the best things a skier can do to keep himself comfortable, dry and warm on the slopes. When considering options, be sure that the glove fits properly, provides sufficient insulation and waterproofing and is comfortable on your hand. With the right pair of ski gloves, you'll be carving the slopes all day without thinking twice about cold, numb digits.

Stoic Welder Glove

Created by Backcountry.com, the Stoic Welder was featured in "Skiing Magazine." The magazine said of the gloves: "While providing a warm and wooly environment for your hands to nest in on those cold hikes, they leave your palms dry and insulated from anything the outdoors can deliver." The Welder glove features welded soft-shell construction, a waterproof Sympatex bladder and goat-skin palm. Your hands will remain warm and comfortable thanks to a liner made from merino wool. The zippered closure is quick and convenient. "Skiing" says that the gloves are a little too warm for spring riding but provide solid protection for cold days in the backcountry.

Dakine Cobra

Chosen as an Editor's Pick in "Freeskier Magazine," the Dakine Cobra was lauded for its advanced features and moderate price tag. The Cobra glove is packed with recognizable components, including a Gore-Tex insert and Thermaloft insulation. The Durafuse leather wraps right around the palm to the side of the glove, providing extra durability against sharp ski edges and on-mountain obstacles. The glove also includes nose-wipe panels--because who has time to dig around for a tissue?

Spyder EXO Link

"Outside Magazine" called the Spyder EXO Link the most comfortable glove in its 09/10 glove test and gave it a spot in its Winter Buyer's Guide 2010. The added comfort comes from welded seams, which eliminate stitching. The gloves also feature stretchy construction designed to better conform to the hand. The Gore-Tex HP insert provides water protection and breathability, while the Durahide leather palm gives you plenty of grip. The gloves use Thinsulate insulation.

Marmot Expedition Mitt

While it's designed for mountaineering, the Marmot Expedition Mitt was called the "the hands-down warmest glove on the market" by "Powder Magazine." Waterproofing and breathability are provided by Marmot's MemBrain technology, wind protection is delivered by the Windstopper shell, and warmth is offered through Primaloft insulation. The DriClime 3-Dimensional wicking keeps hands dryer and warmer. The gloves include a safety leash and nose wipe.
