Founded in 1868 by Colonel E.G. Sebree and William Scott, Sebree is a city in Webster County, Ky., with a population of 1,507 as of July 2008. Historic sights include the McMullin-Warren House and the Sebree Deposit Bank, built in 1890 and refurbished with interiors that include a marble floor. Just outside Sebree on Highway 132 is the Wildwood Golf Course and Conference Center. The Sebree-based Deer Creek Outfitters is Kentucky's best-known resort for shooting and fishing. For kayaking enthusiasts are the nearby King Creek and Cozy Cone resorts. Good hotels are located in nearby Henderson and Madisonville.

Big Spring Inn

This hotel is affiliated with Magnuson Hotels, a group that represents more than a thousand hotels worldwide. It is in Madisonville, 26 minutes from Sebree, and gets its name from a spring fronting the inn. It is also near the University of Kentucky, the Evansville Zoo, Silver Creek Outfitters, the Evansville Regional Airport and a number of restaurants, hospitals and colleges. Forty rooms are spread out over two floors. It has free outdoor parking and a swimming pool. The front desk is manned 24 hours a day.

Sleep Inn

The Sleep Inn in Henderson is 21 minutes from Sebree and is located off Pennyrile Parkway near the John James Audubon State Park. Nearby are a variety of restaurants and the Eastland Mall (for shopping). It has free continental breakfast with fresh coffee, juice and pastries. Weekday newspapers, local calls and a visit to the fitness club are also free, together with high-speed Internet access. A meeting room that can accommodate up to 15 people is available in the hotel. All rooms have hairdryers, irons, ironing boards and coffeemakers, while some also have refrigerators and microwaves.
