Named after Confederate General J.E.B. Stuart, the town of Stuart is the county seat of Patrick County in Virginia. The nearby Blue Ridge Parkway stretches from the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park in North Carolina and has trails, camping, biking and picnicking areas. Also nearby are the Fairy Stone State Park and the Claytor Lake State Park, both of which have facilities for fishing, boating, swimming and hiking. Chocolate Moose

Established in 1998, the Chocolate Moose is a three-room bed and breakfast in Stuart. It is a place to rest and enjoy a massage, relax in a hydro spa, appreciate beautiful gardens and explore a portion of the Blue Ridge Parkway. The place was named after its homemade chocolate mousse cake and has many other excellent dishes are available, including vegetarian meals and raw and living food. The three rooms are known as the Wildflower room, Moose room and the Dogwood room.

Woodberry Inn

Located 30 minutes from Stuart, off the Blue Ridge Parkway and near woods and mountain landscapes, is the Woodberry Inn. The inn is near the Rocky Knob and Castle George hiking trails and attractions such as Mabry Mill and Chateau Morrisette Winery. Each room of this inn is uniquely designed. All have double beds with private baths. Some of the rooms have refrigerators, microwave ovens, coffee makers and hair dryers. A lounge and a restaurant are available for catering events, and pets stay for free at this inn.

Mountain Rose Inn

This bed and breakfast is located along the banks of the Rock Castle Creek in Woolwine, 26 minutes from Stuart. A 1901 Victorian home on 100 acres, the inn is beside the Blue Ridge Mountains. Open all year, it has a big lawn and garden and hammocks near the creek. There are trails in the surrounding hills and many birds on the inn's property. Owned by the Wolcott and Rhodes families, the inn has five rooms and amenities that include private bathrooms, air conditioning, gas fireplaces with hand carved mantles, hair dryers, coffee makers, satellite TV, alarm clocks and a free four-course breakfast served each morning.
