The Colorado River begins in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado as snow melts and it flows 1,470 miles through Arizona, Nevada, Utah, New Mexico, California and to the Sea of Cortez in Mexico. It runs through three deserts and the Grand Canyon, covering 1,360 miles in the United States. For vacationers who want to experience the beauty of this magnificent river, there are resorts along the way that offer RV camping, cabins, motel and hotel lodging.

Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa

The Sorrel River Ranch Resort and Spa, located in Moab Utah, along the Colorado River banks, offers a luxury lodge and hotel suites with outstanding views. All accommodations include a microwave and refrigerator, coffee maker, dining area and a private deck. Suites and some rooms include sitting areas, fireplaces, hydrotherapy bathtubs and a balcony or deck that overlooks the Colorado River. Dog-friendly rooms are available. The hotel features a fitness room, riverside swimming pool, hot tub and tennis courts. The spa offers a variety of massage and body treatments. The Sorrel River Grill Restaurant offers casual and fine dining. Located near Arches National Park and Canyonlands National Park, the resort features hiking, horseback riding, whitewater rafting, kayaking, mountain biking and rock climbing. Hummer tours, jeep safaris, ATV and rhino tours, and scenic flight tours are also offered.

Colorado River Adventures

Colorado River Adventures features five RV resorts along the Colorado River, including the Northshore RV camping resort near Laughlin, Nevada, and Havasu Spring Resort in Lake Havasu, Arizona. Other parks are located in California and Mexico. Resort activities include fishing, golf, boating, water skiing, gambling, hiking, swimming and camping. The resorts offer full RV hookups, pools, jacuzzis, clubhouses, planned activities, family centers and 24-hour security. Northshore features a boat dock and offers daily bus rides to the city to visit the casinos or see a show. Havasu Springs features a marina with a boat launch, boat rentals and fishing pier, heated pool, tennis courts and game room. Along with camping accommodations, three motels and apartments provide a variety of choices for your stay. The resort includes the Spring Dining Room and a convenient store.

Winding River Resort

The Winding River Resort, located on the north fork of the Colorado River, is bordered by the Arapahoe National Forest and Rocky Mountain National Park. The resort offers camping facilities, lodge rooms and cabins. Camping amenities include restrooms, showers, laundry facilities, a camp store and a gift shop. Lodge rooms, for two to four people, include a private bathroom, microwave, small refrigerator and coffee maker. Cabins feature a full kitchen with pots, pans and dishes, bathroom, linens and one or two bedrooms. Cabins accommodate as many as eight guests. Some cabins include wood-burning stoves or a fireplace, two bathrooms and a deck. Activities include horseback riding and pony rides, hayrides, chuck wagon breakfasts and dinners, hiking, fishing, basketball, softball, volleyball, Frisbee golf and horseshoes. Cowboy Church is offered on Sunday mornings along the Colorado River. Winter activities include sleigh rides, skiing, snowshoeing and snowmobiling.
