Annapolis Arts and Crafts Festival
In 2010, Annapolis will launch an annual two-day arts and craft festival at the Naval Academy's Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. The juried festival will give visitors and opportunity to view and purchase work from some of the region's best artists and artisans. Maryland Seafood Festival
For more than 40 years, Annapolis' Sandy Point State Park has hosted Maryland's Seafood Festival. The three-day event traditionally takes place the weekend after Labor Day, and features live music performances, craft vendors and, of course, seafood. The festival's crab soup cook-off is tradition that locals look forward to--2009, more than 30 teams, including more than a dozen regional restaurants, entered their crab soup into the competition. The seafood festival traditionally features many charity vendors and a food drive, so not only will attendees enjoy great seafood, but they'll also help charitable organizations. As of March 2010, admission costs $10 per person, and admission to the crab soup cook-off costs $8 per person.
Eastport Yacht Club Lights Parade
Visit Annapolis on the second Sunday in December for a chance to see a maritime holiday parade. Every year, starting at 6 p.m., members of Annapolis's Eastport Yacht club parade their boats, decked out with holiday decorations and thousands of lights, through Annapolis Harbor and Spa Creek. On-shore spectators will see boats transformed into holiday trains, a launch pad for Santa's sleigh and even a scene from "The Cat in the Hat." Visitors will find the best views on the Eastport Bridge, the Naval Academy and City Dock. This event is free to the public, but those driving to the event are advised to pay to park at the Naval Academy Stadium and catch the free shuttle bus to get to Main Street.
