Sedona, Arizona is South of the Grand Canyon, and is a small town located in the northwest part of Arizona, which is rich in natural history and native American culture--which may have led to its cluster of hotels rumored to be haunted. The area is known for its spectacular vistas of red rock formations, and outdoor activities where one can experience the natural beauty of the desert.

The Hotel Monte Vista

The Hotel Monte Vista was built in 1926 and is located in Flagstaff Arizona and just 22 miles north of Sedona, Arizona. This hotel is a historic landmark and is one of the oldest operating hotels in Flagstaff. Rooms include cable TV, telephone services and spectacular restored rooms. There is an onsite bar and restaurant on the first floor. The hotel is a non smoking hotel. Rates start at $50 and vary with the season as of March 2010. The hotel claims to be haunted by a long line of spirits, in one case a bank robber died in the lounge after robbing a bank in town. He came into the hotel wounded in 1970 and ordered a drink. It was his last. He bled to death, and now his ghost apparently haunts the lower lounge. The hotel has been featured on TV programs and numerous books.

Jerome Grand Hotel

Jerome Grand Hotel is the largest National Historic Landmark building in Jerome, Arizona, and is 28 miles from Sedona. The hotel sits on a hill overlooking Jerome Arizona. The building was originally constructed in 1926, and was not a hotel but a hospital for local mining operations. When mining left the region it closed its doors in 1950. Rehabilitation started in 1994, after 44 years of being empty. Since the hotel reopened in 1997 the owner has reported numerous paranormal activities. TV's come on and off, strange noises; coughing, labored breathing, and voices. There are strange smells of flowers, cigarettes, and whisky. Finally, there are two full apparitions that appear. There is a nurse who walks up and down checking beds that are no longer there, and there is a woman who died in child birth who goes up and down the hallways perhaps looking for her long dead child. Rooms come with extra comfortable beds and TV with premium channels. Rates start at $120.00 as of March 2010.
