The Coleman Company became famous for its gas lanterns that have illuminated camping sites, evening sporting events and outdoor work areas since the early 20th century. Gas camping stoves were an obvious progression for a company experienced in portable gas-burning devices. The Coleman 5466 line of two-burner camping stoves uses propane fuel and features electronic ignition of the flame. Four replacement parts are available to prolong the service life of these stoves.

Grate

The metal grate (part number 5466A5401) rests inside the stove above the burners. The grate supports the pots and pans used during cooking. The grate should be cleaned after each use and is easily removed from the stove. Replacement is generally only needed if the grate is bent, damaged or lost.

Burner Assembly

Two burner assemblies (part number 5466A1321) allow the gas to be burned in a controlled setting, producing the heat needed for cooking. The openings in the burners may become clogged over time, reducing the flow of gas to the flame. Proper cleaning of the stove after use, correct adjustment of the flame and good food preparation techniques will minimize wear on the burners. Additionally, storing the stove in a closed plastic bag will reduce accumulation of dust and cobwebs when the stove is not in use.

Regulator Assembly

The regulator assembly (part number 5430-5651) carries the gas from the propane cylinder to the stove. The regulator has a threaded connection to the stove and propane cylinder and should be fastened hand tight. The regulator assembly is normally stored inside the stove under the grate when not in use.

Control Knobs

Control knobs (part number 5466A1491) regulate the amount of gas flowing to the burners. Turning the knobs counterclockwise closes the valves and turning the knobs clockwise increases the flow of gas to the burners. When properly adjusted, the flames in the burners should appear blue with yellow tips.
