Brookshire

Located in the classy Royal Park Hotel, Brookshire offers fine dining in a relaxed yet elegant atmosphere. Brookshire's seasonal menu is carefully chosen by head chef Colin Brown and features a wide range of fresh seafood. You might start off with the Brookshire oysters topped with bacon and hollandaise sauce or jumbo lump crab cakes with micro basil, mango and avocado citrus remoulade. Entrees include lobster fettucine with wild field mushrooms and fresh parmesan, Italian shrimp scampi and honey-roasted duck served with caramelized Michigan apples. Brookshire is also open for breakfast and serves hearty selections like buttermilk griddle pancakes with Ohio maple syrup, Belgian waffles with strawberries and cream and classic eggs benedict.

Kruse and Muer on Main

This upscale southern Michigan restaurant chain has a popular branch on Main Street in downtown Rochester. Kruse and Muer features regal décor, with stately black marble counters, rich mahogany woodwork and exposed brick walls. Starters include flash-fried calamari with lemon caper Beurre blanc, mushrooms stuffed with crabmeat and saffron cream and homemade tomato-based fish chowder. Choose from seafood entrees like honey pecan whitefish, lemon crumb schrod, fried grouper and chips, or meat and poultry dishes like pan-roasted chicken, 12-ounce New York sirloin or 7-ounce center-cut filet. Kruse and Muer also offers lunch and carry out.
