List of Singapore Airline Companies

Singapore is a popular tourist destination as well as a major aviation hub in Southeast Asia. According to the IATA (International Air Transport Association), the global trade body regulating airlines, two main passenger airline companies are registered in Singapore: SIA (Singapore International Airlines) and SilkAir. However, several low-cost carriers also based in Singapore offer budget-conscious travelers connections to other destinations in the Asia-Pacific Region.

Singapore Airlines

Singapore Airlines is Singapore's flagship carrier and flies to destinations all over the world. It is renowned for its high quality service, cuisine and modern fleet. Singapore Airlines is a member of the Star Alliance Network. In 2008 Singapore Airlines won the prestigious Skytrax "Airline of the Year Award" for the second year in a row.

SilkAir

SilkAir is a wholly owned subsidiary of Singapore Airlines. It is a highly rated regional airline serving 31 destinations in Southeast Asia. SilkAir was founded in 1989 as Tradewinds and was renamed SilkAir in 1992. The airline has won numerous awards, including "Best Regional Airline: Southeast Asia" in the Skytrax 2009 World Airlines Awards.

Tiger Airways

Tiger Airways is the largest budget carrier based in Singapore. It flies to 20 destinations in the Asia-Pacific region from Singapore and has a second hub in Australia. Because of its low ticket prices, passengers must pay extra for services like in-flight catering.

Jetstar Asia / Valuair

Jetstar Asia / Valuair is a low-cost carrier based in Singapore. It is affiliated with Jetstar Airways, a wholly owned subsidiary of Australia's Quantas. Jetstar Asia / Valuair flies to 17 regional destinations in 10 countries. Economy-class passengers can pre-purchase their in-flight meals online or buy food and beverage items on board.
