Mountain Resorts in Flagstaff, AZ

Flagstaff, Arizona, located about 150 miles north of Phoenix, is a prime tourist destination, offering a multitude of cultural and outdoor activities. The city of about 60,000 people sits along historic Route 66 highway and is located near Kachina Peaks Wilderness Park, Mount Elden and Grand Canyon National Park. There are several hotels in Flagstaff, but only a handful that offer resort-style amenities that capture the charm of the mountainous region.

Little America Hotel

Little America Hotel is a luxury getaway located on a 500-acre private forest. There are 248 guest rooms, each with flat screen TVs, floor-to-ceiling windows, spacious bathrooms and goose down pillows. Guests can choose from a deluxe room, forest view room or several suite options. The hotel features two miles of hiking trails, swimming pool, hot tub, fitness center, conference rooms, business center, travel center, restaurant and concierge. As of 2010 the average daily rate is $99 for a deluxe room and $350 for a presidential suite.

Arizona Mountain Inn

Arizona Mountain Inn is located on a secluded 13-acre plot near the Coconino National Forest and in view of the San Francisco Peaks. The resort includes 17 cabins and three suites in the Tudor-style inn. Regular rates for the cabin and suites are based on the season, day of the week and number of people per reservation. Winter rates for Sunday through Thursday stays are about 25 percent less than summer peak season rates. They also offer a flat rate for some cabins. Peak season is considered Labor Day through Memorial Day. Attraction such as Snowbowl, Sunset Crater, Oak Creek Canyon, Lowell Observatory and Walnut Canyon Indian Ruins are less than 20 miles from the resort.

Wyndham Flagstaff Resort

The Wyndham Flagstaff resort features one- and two-bedroom cabins overlooking nearby mountain ranges and a lake. The one bedroom units sleep four, while the two bedrooms can sleep six guests. The resort includes two outdoor swimming pools, an activities program, golf course, tennis courts, fitness center, hot tub, playground, picnic area, miniature golf, driving range, basketball court and restaurant. Nearby activities include skiing, boating, horseback riding, hiking, mountain biking, shopping and entertainment. Regular rates start at $129 for a one-bedroom and $179 for a two-bedroom unit (as of 2010). Rates are higher during peak season---May 15 to Oct. 15.
