Gas lanterns have been a signature product for the Coleman company since World War I. The company has since expanded into other outdoor equipment, including stoves, coolers and tents; but, the gas lantern is still the product many campers associate with the Coleman name. The one-mantle gas lanterns in the 200A model series are known for a long service life, with most servicing done by the consumer. Coleman sells and distributes many of the parts for these lanterns, ensuring they chase away the darkness on many more outdoor adventures.

Fount

The fount (part no. 200A1651) includes the fuel reservoir, plunger (part no. 242D5201), fuel cap (part no. 200C1401) and base rest (part no. 200A4891), which supports the frame and burner above the fount and protects the fuel valve running between the fount and frame. You should oil the plunger to ensure smooth operation.

Fuel Valve

The fuel valve (part no. 200-6571) consists of an eccentric block (part no. 242-3041) connecting the fuel and air wire (part no. 200-1481), tip cleaner stem (part no. 202-3531) and valve stem assembly (part no. 200-6531).

Generator

The generator (part no. 200A5891) converts the liquid fuel into a gas. This essential item is found in all Coleman gas lanterns. The long, cylindrical rod of the generator contains a needle (part no. 242-238) and gas tip (part no.242-2181) that is secured by a jamb nut (part no. 605-210).

Frame and Burner

The frame and burner (part no. 20-3701) brings the fuel to the mantle, where it is burned, giving off light. This assembly is composed of a burner cap and screen (part no. 242-3231), burner tube (part no. 200-3241), lock nut (part no. 200-4561), burner frame assembly (part no. 200A6621), "U" tube and venturi (part no. 200A3261), ventilator bracket (part no. 200-6631), and ball nut (part no. 203-441).

Globe, Ventilator and Mantle

The globe is the glass cover around the frame and mantle of the lantern. The Coleman 200A lanterns are equipped with a clear Pyrex globe (part no. 690A051), but, an amber globe (part no. 690-066) is also available. The mantle (part no. 21A102) is likely the most often replaced item on a Coleman lantern. Fortunately, mantles are inexpensive and widely available, because they are identical on a wide selection of Coleman lanterns. The ventilator (part no. 200B4841) is the metal covering over the globe. It is secured to the frame and burner by a nut.
