Tallahassee, Florida, is in the northwest corner of the state on the panhandle. The Apilachicola National Forest is within an hour's drive from the city. You'll find numerous opportunities for bayou exploring, canoeing, kayaking, fishing, hiking and bicycling in the region. The Gulf of Mexico and sugar-sand beaches are within an hour's drive, where you can surf, swim, scuba dive and sail. If traveling in an RV, stay at an RV park or campground north of the city, conveniently located near the interstate.

Big Oak, north of Interstate 10, offers RV sites for most rig sizes and hookups for water, sewer, 30- and 50-amp electric, Wi-Fi and cable TV. Pets are allowed. Showers and bathrooms, picnic facilities, grills, a guest room and laundry are available. The San Luis Archaeological and Historic Site is within a 45-minute drive from the park. Beaches along the Gulf Coast are within an hour's drive.

Tallahassee RV park is north of the city near Interstate 10 and Route 90. The park offers water, 30- and 50-amp electric, sewer, Wi-Fi and cable TV connections. Owners of large RVs should phone ahead to check on available space for the dimensions of their rig. There are picnic tables, fire rings and grills, a swimming pool, coin-operated laundry and a dump station on the property. Pets are welcome, however, there are breed restrictions. Nearby, you can visit alligator farms, and Apalachicola National Forest is within an hour and a half.

Lakeside Travel Park

The Lakeside RV Travel Park is on the northwest side of the city right off Interstate 10. As the name suggests, the RV park is on a small lake. Bird-watchers can take advantage of the lakeside location to spot numerous species of shore birds, waterfowl and geese. The RV park offers water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric connections, cable TV and Wi-Fi. Showers and bathrooms are on the premises. Pets are allowed. Lake Talquin State Forest is near the park (within 15 minutes).
