Fisherman's Wharf
Fisherman's Wharf, situated on Monterey Harbor, has a history dating back to the 1600s when it was named by a Spanish mariner and used as a place to unload goods from abroad. Today it is a collection of restaurants, shopping and other recreation. After enjoying a seafood lunch or cup of cappuccino on the wharf, visitors can take off on a whale watching cruise or sailing excursion. Fisherman's Wharf is also home to theater and face painting groups, and many shops selling mementos, jewelry and T-shirts.

Monterey Bay Aquarium
The Monterey Bay Aquarium is open daily to exhibit a variety of creatures from birds to reptiles. In addition to walking through the exhibits, visitors can take in a number of short presentations. Presentations include animal feedings and training sessions, as well as 15-minute films. Adventure programs are available, including tours that take guests behind the scenes of the aquarium and sleepovers for the entire family. For the visitors who want a really hands-on experience, a sailing adventure will afford them a day on Monterey Bay working alongside a marine scientist. Adventure programs have various age restrictions.

Ventana Vineyards
Owned by a small group of local growers, the Ventana Vineyards were first planted in 1974. The vineyard welcomes residents and travelers alike to enjoy a visit to its tasting room, where they can not only sample a number of wines but also learn about the history and research of the vineyard. The tasting room is located within the historical Old Stonehouse building and is outfitted with a handcrafted table and Parisian tapestries. If guests want to enjoy fresh air, they can go just outdoors to the patio, which features an open fireplace and bench seating; Ventana encourages guests to bring picnic lunches. The vineyard allows private tastings in addition to hosting several events throughout the year.
