Port St. John is a census-designated place between Titusville and Cocoa in Brevard County, Fla. It is 3.8 square miles, and the population in 2007 was 13,565. It is part of the Palm Bay--Melbourne--Titusville Metropolitan Area, whose main tourist attraction is the Kennedy Space Center. There are more than 200 parks in Brevard County that offer nature centers, trails, conservation areas, beach parks, historic sites, and boating and fishing access to St. Johns River. There are several good hotels 30 minutes or less from the center of Port St. John.

Hampton Inn Titusville/I-95 Kennedy Space Center

About 20 minutes away from the center of Port St. John is the Hampton Inn of Titusville, just off Interstate 95 near the Kennedy Space Center. This hotel has 86 rooms, some with single king-sized beds and others with two beds. They have an exercise room, an outdoor pool, a business center, and meeting rooms with high-speed Internet access. The hotel offers free hot breakfast with drink-all-you-can coffee and juice. It has no facilities for lunch and dinner, but there are restaurants nearby. Pets are not allowed.

Best Western Space Shuttle Inn

This family owned Best Western hotel is less than 20 minutes from Port St. John, four miles from the Kennedy Space Center, three miles from fishing, eight miles from airboat rides in St. Johns River and eight miles from Merritt Island National Wildlife Resort. Every room has cable satellite television, an AM/FM clock radio and a coffee/tea maker. Local calls under 30 minutes are free. The hotel offers free continental breakfast, Wi-Fi throughout its property, an on-site Durango Steakhouse and Lounge, and a gazebo. Pets are allowed, but only in smoking rooms with a $10 charge per day.

Super 8 Cocoa Beach Area

This hotel is about 15 minutes from Port St. John, and is touted as a great location for exploring both the Space Coast and inland Central Florida. The beaches are 20 minutes away, and the hotel's bass-stocked fishing lake is surrounded by walking trails. The hotel has a family picnic area and a tropical outdoor pool. It offers free continental breakfast and has an adjacent restaurant and lounge. All rooms have a refrigerator, an AM/FM clock radio and a coffeemaker. Meeting and banquet facilities are available, but no pets are allowed.
