Remer, Minnesota, near Thunder Lake, is an outdoors destination. Summers offer swimming and fishing, and winters give way to snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Several resorts in Remer are open year-round.

Situated near Chippewa National Forest and open year-round, Thunder Lake Lodge is a family resort, offering cottages, condos and cabins. Each unit offers lake views with full kitchens and all bed linens. Some units have fireplaces. The deck or patio of each unit is equipped with a grill, deck chairs, a picnic table and a fire pit, along with a starter supply of firewood. The property offers free use of life jackets, canoes and paddle boats, as well as tennis, volleyball and basketball. A playground is available, and the game room offers billiards and ping pong. During the summer, Thunder Lake Lodge offers beach access and a weekly fishing contest and marshmallow social for the kids. In the winter, guests enjoy snowmobiling, ice fishing and cross-country skiing. Other attractions include climbing to the top of Moose River Trail's fire tower, the Moon Dance Ranch, turtle races and visiting the Judy Garland Museum, which is just 40 minutes from the lodge. Ask about the winter specials. Thunder Lake Lodge does not accommodate pets, tents or fireworks.

Cedar Beach Resort

Located on the north shore of Thunder lake, Cedar Beach Resort offers fully furnished cottages on 13-1/2 acres of wooded land. Each cottage is equipped with a personal fire pit, picnic table and grill outside, as well as a TV, microwave and linens inside. Summers allow guests to enjoy the beach, which has a natural sand bottom and gradual slope, as well as the boat launch and docks. Sand volleyball and horseshoes are also popular pastimes. During the winter, guests of the resort can enjoy ice fishing, as well as snowmobiling on nearby Eagle Trail.

Situated near Thunder Lake, Andersen's Four Seasons Resort features six cabins equipped with satellite TV and kitchens or kitchenettes. A full restaurant and bar is on-site, allowing you to relax and not worry about cooking. Andersen's features quick access to snowmobile trails, as well as Thunder Lake's ice fishing and cross-country skiing at Washburn. Summer activities include swimming, fishing and hiking on Mud Lake Trails.
