Ranong is a southern province of Thailand that borders Kawthaung Province in the Union of Myanmar. Located about 350 miles south of Bangkok, on the Kra Isthmus, Ranong borders the Andaman Sea. Although the rainy season lasts about eight months in Ranong, the forests, mountains and hot springs provide a draw for tourists. Accommodations in this area are inexpensive, and there are several activities for nature enthusiasts or tourists looking to relax in a quiet setting.

Khao Nanghong Resort

The small boutique resort offers four hillside chalets with views of the Andaman Sea and 10 deluxe guest rooms a few steps from the beach. As of February, 2010, the rate for a chalet was $72 a night and the deluxe guest room was $54 a night. The rate includes breakfast, but other meals are extra. Khao Nanghong Resort features meeting and banquet facilities, 24-hour room service, 24-hour reception and security, a beachfront restaurant, Thai traditional massage and a spa. Nearby activities include the multi-purpose deep-sea port, The shrine of Kho Suchiang and the Punyaban Waterfall.

Jansom Hot Spa Ranong Hotel

The Jansom Hot Spa Ranong Hotel offers about 300 rooms, including the superior, superior deluxe, junior suite and deluxe suite. Rates range from $60 to $120 a night as of February 2010. Each room features air conditioning, satellite T.V., in-house video programs, a refrigerator, a bathroom with hot and cold running water, a telephone and a mini-bar. The resort advertises that is the only one in Ranong to offer 100-percent natural mineral water from Hot Spring International Park. The facility features a swimming pool, Jacuzzi, massage and facial treatments, a restaurant and a conference room.

Pathu Resort Ranong

Pathy Resort Ranong offers 28 luxurious rooms in a lush garden setting. Rates range from $36 to $48 as of February, 2010. Room offerings include the deluxe single pool view, deluxe twin pool view, honeymoon suite pool view, Pathu suite with two to three pool views, and Pathu suite with one pool view. All rates include breakfast for two. Each room is equipped with hot and cold running water, a mini-bar, air conditioning, cable T.V., wireless Internet and a balcony.
