Part of Dahon's mission is to make people more aware that environmentally friendly forms of transportation are not only more sustainable, but also healthier and more economical. The bicycle company sees the folding bike as a space-saving and convenient form of eco-friendly transportation. Founded in 1982, the Los Angeles-based company uses technology and design to create folding bikes.

Boost

Dahon's electric bike, Boost, assists riders with an electric motor. This bike would fit commuters who don't want to show up to work with sweaty clothes, and for other riders who may need extra help to make it up those hills. With 20-inch wheels, the Boost folds small enough to store in a cubicle or fly with you on your next vacation. At 43.1 pounds, it's one of the lightest electric bikes on the market. The Boost retails for $2,499, as of March 2010.

Tournado

As a full-size touring bike, the Tournado provides the packing convenience of a folding bike with standard 700cc size tires that won't slow you down on the road. Made with a classic and tough steel frame, the bike should withstand the beating of travel and long days on the road. At 24 pounds, the Tournado will fit into check-in baggage and won't weigh you down as you trek upstairs to your hotel room. The Tournado costs $2,400, as of March 2010.

Curve SL

The Curve SL is Dahon's top-line commuter bike. The 16-inch wheels make the bike small enough to fold and slip onto the bus or train on the way to work. Nine speeds offer a range of gears to get you up any neighborhood hills. For commuters and enthusiasts who spend ample time in the saddle, the high-end components and light 22.3-pound total weight create a smooth and comfortable ride. The bike retails for $975, as of March 2010.

Curve D3

The Curve D3 has a simple design and mid-range price. It is a utility bike that's efficient for quick commutes. You can keep the D3 in your trunk for riding on short notice, or have one as an extra bike for guests. Front and rear fenders keep water and dirt at bay. Three gears provide simple shifting with a large enough range for uphill pedaling. The Curve D3 retails for $575, as of March 2010.
