Located in Oakland County, Clawson, Michigan is 11 miles northwest of Detroit. For outdoor enthusiasts, the town's Madison Heights Nature Center has a 1.3-mile trail for nature hiking. A number of city-owned bicycle trails wind through the town as well. Visitors to Clawson have a number of dining options to choose from, including Italian bistros, steakhouses and sushi bars.

Due Venti

Specializing in Northern Italian cuisine, Due Venti is 3.8 miles from the Madison Heights Nature Center. The menu at Due Venti changes seasonally to incorporate local, fresh ingredients. Pasta dishes are always heavily featured, such as the tortellini pasta filled with sweet potatoes, leeks, walnuts and marscapone tossed with Michigan-grown cranberries and fried sage in a cream sauce. For dessert, try the zepolle, house-made ricotta donuts served in a chocolate-espresso sauce. The restaurant's house wines are made by Michigan-based Fenn Valley Winery. Reservations are accepted. The restaurant is closed Mondays. Business casual is the recommended attire.

Noble Fish

Just under four miles from the Madison Heights Nature Center, Noble Fish Restaurant is a sushi bar, located in the back of an Asian grocer. The menu features a number of a la carte selections, such as salmon (sake), tuna (maguro), baked eel (unagi) and sweet shrimp (amebi). The sushi chefs also make a variety of hand-rolled maki, including traditional favorites like California and spicy tuna. Combination dinners and sampler platters are available. The restaurant serves serves several varieties of sake as well as a selection of Asian beers. Reservations are not accepted. The dress code is casual.

Clawson Steakhouse

Since the 1950s, Clawson Steakhouse has served the city of Clawson from its location 3.6 miles from the Madison Heights Nature Center. The menu begins with more than one dozen appetizers selections, including the flaming Greek sausage, the artichoke dip with grilled pita points and the sauteed mushroom caps. The restaurant is known for its prime rib and its 30-oz. Porterhouse steak. In addition to steaks, the menu also features pasta dishes, lobster, crab legs, prok chops, ribs and grilled fresh fish. After the meal, diners can sample the caramel apple granny pie or the creme brulee with fresh berries. The wine list contains more than 100 selections by the bottle.
