The Sri Lankan hill country is located in the center of the small island country. It is known for its breathtaking views, its relatively temperate climate, and its relaxing atmosphere. For foreign visitors who want to explore the hills, tea plantations and other sights, countless possibilities exist for accommodations.

Corbet's View Lodge

Corbet's View Lodge overlooks Corbet's Gap in the Knuckles Mountain Range, among other sights. The Lodge has three rooms available, two with three single beds and one with two single beds, for a total guest capacity of eight people. All rooms have their own attached bathroom. The Lodge provides three Sri Lankan meals a day as well as tea. The hotel is located near Kandy, 118 miles from Colombo and about 130 miles from the airport.

Amaya Hills

Amaya Hills is a high-end option located outside the central Sri Lankan community of Kandy, about 75.5 miles from Colombo and 93 miles from the airport. The hotel is about a 15-minute drive from Kandy's city center and isperched on a rock outcropping. Amaya Hills boasts 100 air conditioned rooms with a balcony or terrace, 24-hour room service, an IDD phone, a radio, and a TV on request. Amenities include a pool with a view, a billiards hall, and a restaurant serving Sri Lankan cuisine.

Kirchhayn Bungalow

Kirchhayn Bungalow is owned by the only remaining British plantation family in Sri Lanka. The family has been in the country since 1884 and has owned this estate since 1920. This property is located in the cooler region of the Sri Lankan hill country. The Kirchhay Bungalow provides five different double rooms with their own bathroom. The Bungalow is located 124 miles from Colombo and 137 miles from the airport.

Chaaya Citadel--Kandy

Chaaya Citadel overlooks the famous Mahaweli River, which flows through Kandy and is also near the Sacred Temple of the Buddha's Tooth (one of the holiest sites in Sri Lankan Buddhism), the Peradeniya Botanical Gardens, and Kandy Lake. The hotel was refurbished in 2006 and boasts 24 deluxe rooms and 97 superior rooms. Deluxe rooms come with air conditioning, satellite TV, minibars, in-room safes, and IDD phones, while superior rooms add a DVD player and a more luxurious interior. A restaurant is also available, with views of the river.

Kelburne Cottages

Kelburne Cottages is located on a ridge just above the town of Haputale, with views that can stretch over 50 miles on a clear day. Three cottages from the late 19th and early 20th centuries stand on an escarpment less than two miles from Haputale. They come stocked with books and magazines, furnishings, and TV. A butler is also available for both general assistance and meal preparation at any time of the day.
