RV Campgrounds in Charleston and Savannah

Savannah, Georgia and Charleston, South Carolina are coastal cities that have become known for their southern culture, charm and architecture. Classic antebellum style homes and plantations, wrought-iron gates and horse-drawn carriages can be found in these southern cities. Their proximity to the Atlantic coast allows for sea-kayaking, fishing, surfing and sailing opportunities. RV traveling between the two cities is a wonderful way to explore the region. There are many options for RV parks in and between Savannah and Charleston.

Oak Plantation Campground

Oak Plantation Campground is on 240 acres of tree shaded property with a private fishing pond stocked with bream and bass. No fishing license is required. RVs of most sizes can be accommodated and sites include water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric. Pets are allowed if leashed. Bathrooms, showers and a coin-operated laundry facility are available. The Atlantic beaches are within 15 minutes of the campground where there is surfing, sea-kayaking, sailing, boogie-boarding and swimming.

Point South KOA

The South Point KOA is in Yessamee, about halfway between Savannah and Charleston. The KOA can handle RVs to 80 feet in length. Water, sewer and 30- and 50-amp electric connections are standard at each site. Wi-Fi is available at the campground. Pets are welcome and there is a small leash-free area where four-legged friends can play. Bathrooms and showers, a dump station and coin-operated laundry room are on the premises. Hilton Head an Beaufort are a 20 minute drive to the east where there are beaches. Sailing and fishing charters can be hired out of the harbors. Whale watchers can try to spot the rare Atlantic Right Whale during whale watching tours.

Savannah Oaks RV Resort

The Savannah Oaks is on 24 acres of moss covered oak forest and on the banks of the Ogeechee River. Fish for catfish, bream and bass from the campground. Canoe, kayak and swim while enjoying the resort's amenities and location. RVs of most sizes can be handled. There are standard water, sewer and 30- or 50-amp electric connections. Pets are allowed if leashed. Showers, bathrooms and a laundry are available. The Okefenokee River and National Wildlife Refuge is within a three hour drive. Hiking and mountain biking trails are in the refuge. Road bicyclists can tour the many miles of country roads around the campground and Savannah.
