The small town of Janesville is located in Waseca County in south-central Minnesota. With several lakes and the LeSueur River in close proximity of the town, the area offers a wealth of possibilities for outdoor recreation. Opportunities for boating, fishing, hiking, cross-country skiing and enjoying nature are all close by. Campers have many choices in wooded and secluded campsites in the surrounding area.

Bray County Park

Approximately seven miles northeast of Janesville in Madison Lake travelers can find Bray County Park. This heavily wooded, 98-acre campground offers visitors a scenic location in which to camp along the shores of Madison Lake. Tent campers desiring more privacy have 10 campsites offering water, a picnic table and fire ring. The park has 33 sites that include water, electric, picnic table and fire ring. Also on-site are restrooms, showers, a dump station, picnic area and swimming beach. Those wishing to venture onto the lake can rent canoes and paddle-boats at the park. Boaters and anglers can utilize the facility's boat launch and dock for opportunities to catch bass, crappie, sunfish and bullheads. Hikers have two miles of nature trails that lead across a swinging bridge over a ravine.

Sakatah Lake State Park

Located in Waterville, Sakatah Lake State Park is approximately 12 miles north of Janesville. This heavily forested park has both the Upper and Lower Sakatah lakes within its confines, offering opportunities for boating and fishing. Tent campers will find 48 campsites that include a picnic table, fire ring and water, with each site private and wooded. The park also has 14 sites that in addition to supplying a picnic table, fire ring and water come with electric hookups, accommodating RVs with a maximum length of 55 feet. This facility even has six bike-in campsites for the two-wheeled set. Campers find a picnic area by the lake, bathhouse, vault toilets and a dump station. The park rents canoes and kayaks and offers a boat launch and fishing pier for anglers fishing for bass, panfish, walleye or pike. In addition to the Sakatah Lake area's eight miles of trails, the paved, 39-mile long Sakatah Singing Hills State Trail runs through a section of the park.

Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort

Kiesler's Campground and RV Resort in Waseca is approximately 12 miles southwest of Janesville on Clear Lake. The heavily wooded, 750-acre campground offers campers large sites that are well screened and private. The campground has 68 campsites, which include a picnic table, fire ring, water and electric. There are 63 full hookup sites, which include water, electric, sewer, a fire ring and picnic table. The campground has 190 sites for seasonal campers. The campground has a bathhouse, laundry facility, dump station, heated swimming pool, lake swimming and a store that rents boats, and pets are accepted. Boaters and anglers can utilize the boat dock and fishing pier for opportunities to catch bass, crappie and bluegills from the lake. Hikers and bikers can utilize the five-mile paved trail around Clear Lake.
