Campgrounds Near Shamineau Lake, Minnesota

Shamineau Lake is in central Minnesota, southeast of Brainerd, midway between St. Cloud and Chippewa National Forest. The lake is large enough to support only a couple of resorts and campgrounds, but nearby state park camping is also available. The region offers diverse choices for outdoor recreation, from water sports to snow sports.

Auger's Pine View Resort‎

Auger's Pine View Resort, on the shore of Lake Shamineau, has multiple lodging options for travelers. Visitors can select from rental homes, cabins, camper spaces and tent campsites. The resort offers Wi-Fi service. The lodge serves refreshments and houses table and video games. Groceries, gas and oil are sold on site. Guests of all ages will enjoy the swimming beach, which includes swim rafts, a water slide and many water games. Rental paddle boats, canoes and kayaks are available for guest use. Paul Bunyan Bike Trail begins about 25 miles east of the resort, near Baxter. The trail connects to several other Minnesota trails. Most of the distance is paved, able to support use by hikers, skaters and cyclists.

Shamineau Acres Resort

Shamineau Acres Resort offers several cabins that accommodate up to five people. Each cabin includes access to a 14-foot boat, and rental paddle boats, canoes and pontoon boats are available on site. The cabins have amenities including air conditioning and private docks. Sandy beach areas are provided on Lake Shamineau, a spring-fed lake with high water clarity. Guests can swim from shore, and the grounds contain a dedicated swimming dock. The 18-hole Pine Ridge Golf Course is less than two miles from the resort. The course is peaceful, created to blend in to the natural setting of the area. The course has a driving range, special rates and carts for rent.

Crow Wing State Park

Crow Wing State Park sits 33 miles east of Shamineau Lake. The park's campground offers drive-in sites that can handle RVs up to 45 feet in length. Only 12 sites include electric service. Vault toilets are available all year long, while flush toilets, showers and a dump station are available seasonally. The park holds 18 miles of hiking trails and six miles of cross-country skiing trails. For canoeing enthusiasts and kayakers, the Rum River Padding Route passes through the area. Starting near Mille Lacs Lake, 30 miles east of the park, the trail is designated as a wild scenic route by the Minnesota DNR. Outfitters and campsites are available along the water.
