McCall, Idaho, is a small resort community with an altitude of 5,000 feet. It is located 100 miles north of Boise and is considered as "Idaho's Recreational Playground." Each autumn and winter, from mid-November to April, McCall attracts tourists ready to play and discover a waiting adventure in this winter wonderland.

Skiing

Brundage Mountain Resort has "the best snow in Idaho." It is located in central Idaho and receives 320 inches of snow annually. The ski resort operates from Thanksgiving to April when snow is plentiful. If you are a novice skier, individual and group lessons are available.

Snowmobiling

Snowmobiling through Idaho's terrain is a thrilling adventure. The state has 500 miles of trails as well as areas for off-trail riding. The gently rolling slopes are perfect for the beginner, while the challenging hillsides give the expert an extra adrenaline rush.

Winter Carnival

The Winter Carnival is a popular annual event in McCall that everyone looks forward to. It begins the last Friday of January and lasts until the following Sunday. A different theme is chosen each year. Party goers enjoy snow sculptures, a Mardi Gras parade, and Monte Carlo night. Live music and entertainment ring through the streets.

Ice Skating

Ice skating is available at the Manchester Ice and Event Centre, which overlooks Payette Lake and houses an NHL-regulation-size hockey rink. It seats 650 people in stadium-style seating and has an arcade and restaurant.

Snowshoeing

Perhaps you are more in the mood for a sightseeing hike. Snowshoe rentals are found throughout the town. Venture to Ponderosa State Park or hike a trail through the powdery snow into the woods. During the hike you may be lucky enough to see forest creatures playing in the snow.

Snow Tubing

Enjoy cushioned snow tubing at the Activity Barn, a working cattle ranch. No lessons are required. A lift takes visitors with tubes to the top of a 700-foot-long hill. While there, you can see panoramic scenes of the mountains in the distance. Take a thrilling ride with an 85-foot drop to the bottom of the hill.
