Martin Creek Lake State Park is situated to the west of Carthage, Texas in Tatum. There are several fun activities to do within the park such as hiking, fishing, swimming, boating, water skiing and planned programs. There are also kid's fishing contests at certain times of year. Park benefits include picnic shelters, bathhouses, restrooms, a dump station, playground, trails, a boat ramp, park store and fishing pier. Sites come with either water and electrical connections or no hook ups as well as picnic tables and fire rings.

Hitchin Post RV Park is located northwest of Carthage, Texas in Hallsville. Onsite features include events facilities, restrooms, laundry facilities, Wi-Fi, propane service and a coffee shop. There are a few activities offered such as picnicking, dances and planned events. Both tent and RV sites are available at the park. All sites include water and electrical hook ups.
