A quaint, little fishing town situated just 25 miles northeast of Boston, Rockport, Massachusetts is a year-round hotspot for any outdoor enthusiast. A phone call to the Eagle House is sure to get one of the owners, Gary or Maria DellaRocco, to give a warm and friendly greeting on the line. The DellaRoccos operate this charming locale which features a three-bedroom guest house and 15 motel rooms. Located in the heart of downtown, guests can enjoy art galleries, shopping or outdoor dining. Surfers can venture to Long Beach or Good Harbor Beach, each within walking distance of Eagle House. For a good hike, pack up the car and head up to Halibut Point State Park, with coastal views that span up to New Hampshire and Maine. For the trail lover, exploring the Rockport, Gloucester Woods is a unique excursion into historic sites. "Rockport is such a fun place for outdoor activities. There's a ton of water sports, hiking trails and beach activities everywhere you look," said Gary DellaRocco. The Eagle House offers peak and off-peak rates and midweek deals. Motel rates start at $85 night to $130; guest house rates begin at $1800 per week.

Motel Peg Leg

One of the oldest motels in Rockport, Motel Peg Leg was built and is owned and operated by the Erwin family. Open from mid-April through October, Motel Peg Leg is nestled atop a knoll overlooking the Atlantic Ocean and is just minutes walking distance to Front Beach. Historic Bearskin Neck, a stretch of former lobsterman and fisherman shacks converted into modern art shops and galleries, is less than five minutes from Motel Peg Leg. Guests can head over to Thacher Island, one of three islands off the coast of Rockport, for fishing, hiking and running trails, or visit Thacher Island National Wildlife Refuge. Rates range from $118 per night to $145.
