Helen, Georgia, is a literal re-creation of a Bavarian Alpine village nestled in the heart of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Host to cultural events and festivals year round, including the longest Oktoberfest in the South, the village of Helen draws people from all over the U.S. in search of schnitzel, cuckoo clocks, homemade fudge and the best of Bavarian beers and wines. In addition, outdoor enthusiasts travel to the mountains for hiking, fishing, camping, river-rafting and horseback riding. What's great is that you don't have to stay a week or even a weekend to enjoy Helen's charms, as many cabins in the area are available for single night rentals.
