Prairie Island Campground
Approximately 19 miles east of Elba is the Prairie Island Campground in Winona. Located along the banks of the Mississippi River, the campground offers campers large, shaded campsites encompassed by large trees. There are 115 campsites for tent campers, which include a fire ring, picnic table and centrally located water faucets. There are 80 electric and water sites. The campground has restrooms, showers, a dump station and a camping store. Canoes and bikes are available for rent at the campground for those wanting to experience the Mississippi River up close. The campground also has a boat dock and launch for boaters wishing to venture into the river. There are various walking trails throughout the campground, as well as a deer park.

Whitewater State Park
Whitewater State Park is located approximately three miles south of Elba. Located on 2,700 acres, this heavily forested, picturesque park has limestone bluffs and deep ravines throughout it. The campground has 57 sites with water, a picnic table and a fire ring for tent campers. Campsites are large and wooded, with 47 sites having both electric and water. There are also six walk-in sites, as well as group camping. The park has restrooms, showers, a dump station, a picnic area and vault toilets. Hikers and wildlife enthusiasts will appreciate the park's 15 miles of hiking trails, which include self-guided and handicap accessible ones. There are six miles of cross-country skiing trails located within the park.

Lazy-D Campground
Approximately two miles south of Elba is the Lazy-D Campground. The campground is located on the Whitewater River. There are eight campsites for tent campers that include a picnic table and fire ring, in a wooded, private setting. There are 107 sites, which include water and 50-amp service. The campground has a dump station, restrooms, showers, a heated pool and trail rides with horses for rent. Visitors can rent canoes, tubes and kayaks at the campground's camping store, for venturing down the Whitewater River.
