Garner State Park
Visitors staying at Garner State Park have access to 10 acres of riverfront access. The campgrounds in the park offer tent and RV travelers sites to set up their gear for a camping stay. Tent sites are primitive but have picnic tables and fire rings. RV sites have water and electric hookups. All guests may use the showers and bathrooms at the park. Pets are allowed if leashed. The Rio Frio River flows through the park, and many guests inner-tube, fish, canoe and kayak its waters. There is a series of hiking trails in the park. Canoe and paddle-boat rentals are available at the park office. At Kickapoo Cavern State Park, within an hour's drive, visitors can explore the subterranean caverns and trails. Garner State Park is only 20 miles from Montell as the crow flies, but the travel time is 40 minutes as visitors must drive through Uvalde to access the road to Concan.

Chalk Bluff Park
Chalk Bluff Park is in Uvalde, the connecting town between Montell and Concan. Uvalde and the Chalk Bluff Park is a 20-minute drive from Montell. Chalk Bluff Park has tent sites along the Nueces River. The park has a pavilion for escaping the hot Texas sun. Bathrooms, showers and picnicking facilities are on the premises. Pets are allowed. RV campers can be accommodated as well. RV sites have water, sewer and 30-amp electric connections. There are organized hay rides from the park. Boat and inner tube rentals are available at the park. Anglers can fish the Nueces River form the campground.

Parkview Riverside RV Park
The Parkview is located on the Rio Frio River. While catering primarily to RV campers, the Parkview does accept tent campers on a space-available basis. Tent sites are on the same grounds as the RV sites. RV sites have sewer, water and 30- or 50-amp electric. Campers have access to showers, bathrooms, picnic facilities, a laundry room and guest house. Pets are welcome. Fishing, canoeing, kayaking and swimming can be done from the campgrounds. Road bicyclists can tour the many miles of country roads in the Hill Country. Birdwatchers can try spotting quail, hawks and osprey. As with Garner State Park, Parkview is a 40-minute drive from Montell.
