Established by Italian immigrants, Baltimore's Little Italy is located in downtown Baltimore and is within walking distance of the harbor. There are many Italian festivities in the neighborhood, like the St. Anthony Festival and the St. Gabriel Festival over the summer. There is also a film festival during the summer months. Many of the restaurants in the neighborhood are owned by chefs who immigrated from Italy.

Giovanna Aquia immigrated to the U.S. in the 1950s from Cefalu, Sicily. She and her husband opened the restaurant in Little Italy to share the genuine taste of Sicily with their new home in Baltimore. The restaurant is adorned with handpainted murals and has an authentic Italian feel. Don't miss the calamari and the baked cavatella. The cannoli are also delicious. Café Gia offers catering for large offsite parties and events.

DaMimmo Restaurant

Since 1984, DaMimmo Restaurant has been serving high-end Italian cuisine and winning awards for it. The restaurant's menu boasts its versatility, with many regions of Italy represented. The façade of the building looks like a genuine Italian café and the décor inside is cozy and familiar. The restaurant prides itself on the large number of celebrities who have dined there, including Stevie Wonder, Liza Minnelli, Dustin Hoffman and Johnny Depp. For an appetizer, the carpaccio is a good choice. The lobster tettrazzini and the Chilean seabass shine on the dinner menu.

Della Notte Ristorante blends traditional Mediterranean cooking with innovative techniques. The chef uses a large portion of local fare such as Chesapeake crab and rockfish. Don't miss the ostriche Portofino (baked oysters), the fettuccine with crab and the quail. There is live entertainment nightly in the restaurant's lounge, which serves the full dinner menu. Della Norte also hosts and caters events.
